|Salaat followed by Quran recitation and a talk by Dr Konrad Pedziwiatr entitled "Islam in Poland"
Contemporary Poland is one of most ethnically and nationally homogenous countries of the European Union. The number of people whose ethnic origins are different from Polish ranges from 2 to 3 per cent of the total population, which means that 1-1.2 million of Polish citizens belong to an ethnic or national minority.
Dr. Pędziwiatr holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, MA in European Studies from the University of Exeter in the UK and MA in Sociology from the Jagiellonian University in Poland. He has published widely on various dimensions of Muslim presence in Europe. He has written numerous papers and books about migration with a particular focus on Muslims and Poland.
